007 - What we can learn from athletes under pressure

In today’s episode we explore what we can learn from athletes when it comes to dealing with and performing under pressure.

As I’ve been watching the Olympic Games, I’ve noticed athletes adopting similar strategies across the various disciplines for how they approach their events, and some of these strategies could easily be adapted for work situations.

In this episode we cover 4 performance strategies used by Olympic athletes that can be adapted for the work arena that:

  • Set us up for success and reduce pressure.

  • Channel the energy for our performance.

  • Assess our progress & performance as we go.

  • Settle down our energy & time to reflect.

*Correction 07 Aug 2024 - in this episode I make reference to the athlete Nicola Olyslagers as a long jumper but this should be high jumper.

NEXT STEPS

Which strategies resonated most with you that you will adapt for the work arena today?
